Enhancement of glossiness perception by retinal-image motion: additional effect of head-yoked motion parallax.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
It has been argued that when an observer moves, a contingent retinal-image motion of a stimulus would strengthen the perceived glossiness. This would be attributed to the veridical perception of three-dimensional structure by motion parallax. However, it

Smooth motion parallax method for 3D light-field displays with a narrow pitch based on optimizing the light beam divergence angle.

open access: yesOptics Express
The three-dimensional (3D) light field display (LFD) with dense views can provide smooth motion parallax for the human eye. Increasing the number of views will widen the lens pitch, however, resulting in a decrease in view resolution.

Minimization of Parallax Artifacts in Video Stitching for Moving Foregrounds

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Parallax handling in the presence of moving foregrounds is a challenging problem in video stitching. The artifacts such as blurring or ghosting become prominent when objects move across multiple views. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme to minimize

Verification of the accommodative responses in viewing an on-axis analog reflection hologram

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2021
Vergence and accommodation responses of human vision are very important factors when a 3D image is observed, and a vergence-accommodation conflict (VAC) causes perceptual distortion, visual discomfort, and fatigue for an observer.

Contact Lens with Moiré Patterns for High‐Precision Eye Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a passive contact lens for high‐precision eye tracking, integrating a microscopic moiré grating label. The parallax‐induced shift of macroscopic moiré patterns enables angle measurement with 0.28° precision using a standard camera under ambient light.

Microarcsecond VLBI Pulsar Astrometry with PSRπ II. Parallax Distances for 57 Pulsars [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2018
We present the results of PSRπ, a large astrometric project targeting radio pulsars using the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA). From our astrometric database of 60 pulsars, we have obtained parallax-based distance measurements for all but 3, with a ...
