Sensory redundant parallel mobile mechanism
Proceedings 2001 ICRA. IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.01CH37164), 2002This paper presents a novel design for a mobile robot based on the kinematics of parallel mechanisms. The robot consists of 3 legs, each equipped with an asynchronous driving unit. The legs are connected to the driving units with spherical joints and to the upper plate with a revolute joint.

Mechanisms for Parallel Data Transport
2012Evolving paradigms of parallel transport mechanisms are necessary to satisfy the ever increasing need of high performing communication systems. Parallel transport mechanisms can be described as a technique to send several data simultaneously using several parallel channels.

In-parallel actuated mechanisms as a new robotic mechanism
Advanced Robotics, 1993The concept of parallel connection or in-parallel actuation is described for the closed-loop mechanisms with multiple degrees of freedom which compose those manipulators or robots called parallel.

Classification of Parallel Mechanisms
2013This chapter provides a systematic classification of parallel mechanisms based upon the latest research on the architectures of parallel mechanism. The list will be classified by increasing numbers of degrees of freedom, from 2 to 6, companied with the motion pattern of the mobile platform. Various mechanical architectures of parallel mechanism will be

Singularity of Parallel Mechanisms
2013This chapter covers the singularity analysis of parallel mechanisms. The singularities of parallel mechanisms are classified into three types. For the first type of singularity, the mechanism loses 1 or more DOFs, while for the second type of singularity, the mechanism gains 1 or more DOFs. The third type of singularity occurs when the first and second

The Mechanics of Parallel Mechanisms and Walking Machines
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1994A parallel mechanism is one whose links and joints form two or more serially connected chains which join the fixed base and the end effector The mechanism of a multi-legged walking machine can be considered as a parallel mechanism whose base is not fixed and whose configuration changes during different phases of its gait.

Workspace of Parallel Mechanisms
2013This chapter deals with a geometric determination of the theoretical and usable workspace for a parallel mechanism. Several parallel mechanisms including a planar 5R parallel mechanism, a DELTA mechanism, several 3-DOF spatial parallel mechanisms, and 6-RUS parallel mechanism are illustrated.

Parallel mechanisms of epigenetic reprogramming in the germline
Trends in Genetics, 2012Germ cells possess the extraordinary and unique capacity to give rise to a new organism and create an enduring link between all generations. To acquire this property, primordial germ cells (PGCs) transit through an unprecedented programme of sequential epigenetic events that culminates in an epigenomic basal state that is the foundation of totipotency.

Synchronization mechanisms for parallel processing
1982The synchronization mechanism in parallel processing is a very important facility. This paper discusses the recent trends of synchronization mechanisms, especially from the point of general features and program verification.
