Water evaporation in parallel plates
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2017Abstract The influence of macroscopic curvature on evaporation of the meniscus between parallel glass plates standing on purified water pool has been quantified experimentally. The gap distance between the plates was short compared to the capillary length, so the surface curvature increased with decrease of the gap distance.

Achromatic THz wave plate composed of stacked parallel metal plates
Optics Letters, 2013We propose a simple achromatic terahertz wave plate composed of stacked parallel metal plates with a hole array. It consists of an ensemble of designed parallel plate waveguides; the high and low propagation speeds of waves in TE and TM waveguide modes with the same group velocity cause a constant phase difference over a wide frequency region.

Ultrafiltration in parallel plate filter
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1999Abstract The contribution presents the Boundary Domain Integral Method (BDIM) formulation for the solution of ultrafiltration processes in selected configurations. Laminar flow of viscous Newtonian fluid is considered. In numerical modeling, a special attention is given to accurate modeling of porous walls.

The parallel-plate electron multiplier
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1979A review is made of the development and performance. A simple theory necessary to understand the principles of operation is outlined. Characteristics such as gain, pulse height distribution, timing and long-term operation are summarised. Some general considerations concerning fabrication processes are presented together with a specific design of a ...

Sedimentation between parallel plates
2010Settling basins can be shortened by using a stack of horizontal parallel plates which develop boundary layers in which sedimentation can occur. The purpose of this study is to examine the design parameters for such a system and to apply this approach to a fish rearing channel in which settling length is strictly limited. Flow between parallel rough and

A plate of parallel glass placed in the convergent beam of a reading microscope is a useful means of obtaining the "fine-reading" of a divided circle. The fine-reading scale is uniform if its length is proportional to the tangent of the angle through which the plate is tilted and if the refractive index of the glass is 1.60.

Parallel-Plate Type Holey-Plate Plasma Source
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2002Microwave plasma generated and sustained by evanescent waves emitted from a parallel-plate type source with a holey top plate is developed as a high-efficiency, lightweight, and low-cost plasma source. The plates have a 100 mm×140 mm area and are separated by 10 mm.

Parallelized Antibody Selection in Microtiter Plates
2017The most common in vitro technology to generate human antibodies is phage display. This technology is a key technology to select recombinant antibodies for the use as research tools, in diagnostic tests, and for the development of therapeutics. In this review, the high-throughput compatible selection of antibodies (scFv) in microtiter plates is ...

Squeezing flow between parallel plates
Wear, 1977Abstract A similarity solution for the full Navier-Stokes equations is presented for the unsteady flow between two plates approaching or receding from each other symmetrically. The similarity solution exists when the distance between the plates varies as the square root of a linear function of time.

16.1 Introduction There are two aspects that have to be dealt with when using a plane-parallel plate inserted in a converging or diverging beam. First, there are the aberrations, and second there is a relocation of the image. This relocation is a simple longitudinal shift if the plate is perpendicular to the optical axis.
