Biogeomorphic Feedbacks Triggered by Mangrove Degradation at the Seaward Margin Accelerate Persistent Vegetation Decline

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Seaward mangrove edge exhibited significant retreat after extreme disturbances. Rhizophora stylosa exhibited impaired regeneration and root damage in heavily disturbed areas, trait variation primarily responded to elevation and sediment properties, vegetation loss triggered subsidence, creating a positive biogeomorphic feedback loop.

Research on Adaptive Irrigation Decision‐Making Method for the Entire Growth Cycle of Water Spinach Based on Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
An environmentally enhanced proximal policy optimization (EN‐PPO) method is proposed for adaptive irrigation of water spinach across the full growth cycle. By integrating soil moisture, growth stage, rainfall, and evapotranspiration information, the method improves irrigation timing, water‐saving performance, and rainfall utilization while maintaining ...

Polymer Stress‐Tensor Calculation for a Laminar Submerged Viscoelastic Jet Flow Using Different Constitutive Models

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 5, Page 628-643, May 2026.
This study presents an efficient method to compute polymer stress‐tensor components in viscoelastic laminar jet flows using models such as Oldroyd‐B, Giesekus, PTT, and FENE. By assuming a stationary and parallel flow, the methodology significantly reduces computational cost.

Cell Mechanics in Cancer: Integrating Mechanotransduction Pathways Within the Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesJournal of Cellular Physiology, Volume 241, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Single‐cell mechanical properties such as stiffness, elasticity, and viscosity, are crucial in governing biological processes like migration, proliferation, and differentiation. In cancer, the mechanical properties of cells undergo significant alterations, which contribute to tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to therapy.
