Conventional single‐gradient freeze‐casting typically produces unidirectional porous architectures with limited transverse connectivity. The Sequential Hybridization by Infiltration and Freeze‐casting Technique (SHIFT) addresses this constraint by integrating secondary aligned structures within a preformed primary scaffold.

Bioinspired passive flow routing mitigates thrombosis in cardiovascular devices by redirecting a small fraction of forward flow into stagnation‐prone regions. Inspired by avian alula and aircraft slat mechanisms, strategically placed routing channels restore washout around mechanical heart valves, reducing low‐shear exposure by four orders of magnitude

Convection in fluid and porous media [PDF]
The subject of convection in fluid and porous media is investigated. Particular attention is paid to penetrative convection. The first two chapters are devoted to penetrative convection when fluid overlies and saturates a porous medium.

Efficient Adsorption‐Based Direct Air Capture Via Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Architectures
Architected triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) contactors reshape direct air capture by replacing straight‐channel diffusion limits with convection‐enhanced CO2 transport. Chaotic advection thins boundary layers and exposes fast adsorption sites, enabling 70%–75% more fast sites, 114% higher productivity, and 51.8% lower energy consumption than ...

The effects of passive wall porosity on the linear stability of boundary layers [PDF]
A two-dimensional and quasi three-dimensional model has been developed which enables the stability characteristics of laminar boundary layer flows over porous surfaces to be evaluated.

Real‐Time Investigation of Interfacial Evolution in Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems via EQCM
Understanding the electrode/electrolyte interface (EEI) is crucial for supercapacitors and batteries. EQCM, by enabling real‐time monitoring of mass changes during charge–discharge cycles, has evolved into a vital method for analysis of EEI. It provides important insights into charge‐storage mechanisms, electrode structural evolution, ion‐transfer ...

Complex microarchitectures emerge from simple flow‐driven transformations as static mixers iteratively reorient and split material domains. Coupled with diverse deposition strategies, chaotic printing provides an accessible platform for fabricating architected materials that support biologically and chemically relevant processes. On the stability of plane viscoelastic shear flows in the limit of infinite Weissenberg and Reynolds numbers [PDF]
Elastic effects on the hydrodynamic instability of inviscid parallel shear flows are investigated through a linear stability analysis. We focus on the upper convected Maxwell model in the limit of infinite Weissenberg and Reynolds numbers.
