This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Faster parameter estimation using risk-sensitive filters
In this paper, we propose a risk-sensitive approach to parameter estimation for hidden Markov models (HMMs). The parameter estimation approach considered exploits estimation of various functions of the state, based on model estimates.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Estimation of the long memory parameter in non stationary models: A Simulation Study [PDF]
In this paper we perform a Monte Carlo study based on three well-known semiparametric estimates for the long memory fractional parameter. We study the efficiency of Geweke and Porter-Hudak, Gaussian semiparametric and wavelet Ordinary Least-Square ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Comparison of estimation limits for quantum two-parameter estimation
Measurement estimation bounds for local quantum multiparameter estimation, which provide lower bounds on possible measurement uncertainties, have so far been formulated in two ways: by extending the classical Cramér-Rao bound (e.g., the quantum Cramér ...

Remarks on the estimation of position parameters
The article contains some theoretical remarks about selected models of position parameters estimation as well as numerical examples of the problem. We ask a question concerning the existence of possible measures of the quality of interval estimation and we mention some popular measures applied to the task.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Comparative Studies of Methods for Accurate Hurst Parameter Estimation
Over the last decade the traffic of the packet-based networks shows self-similar or long-range dependent nature. Such behaviour raises issues of accuracy in resource allocation and related guarantee required of QoS parameters for data flow.
