Optimization Problems with Large Parameters

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1973
The asymptotic behavior of the solution to a constrained minimization problem, when one or more coefficients of linear parts of the objective function becomes infinite, is studied. It is shown that, under certain circumstances the asymptotic behavior is calculable by solving another extremum problem with additional constraints.

Genetic Algorithm-Based Test Parameter Optimization for ADAS System Testing

International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability and Security, 2019
In this paper, we outline the use of a genetic algorithm for test parameter optimization in the context of autonomous and automated driving. Our approach iteratively optimizes test parameters to aim at obtaining critical scenarios that form the basis for

Parameter Optimization with ACSL Models

SIMULATION, 1987
A method whereby a parameter optimization program, written in FORTRAN, can be used in conjunction with ACSL (Advanced Continuous Simulation Language) models of dynamic systems is described. The optimization of a projectile's trajectory is used as an example.

A Comparative Analysis of Hyperopt as Against Other Approaches for Hyper-Parameter Optimization of XGBoost

International Conference on Signal Processing and Machine Learning, 2018
The impact of Hyper-Parameter optimization on the performance of a machine learning algorithm has been proved both theoretically and empirically by many studies reported in the literature.

Optimization of Parameters for Optimal Performance

2015
The impact of the signal pulse width and the optical filter bandwidth on the performance of both RZ and NRZ On-Off Keying (OOK) Optical Time Division Multiplexing (OTDM)-Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) systems are studied in this chapter. Using polynomial fitting, an approximated expression for the optimal signal pulse duty cycle as a function ...

Real-parameter optimization with OptBees

2014 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC), 2014
This paper reports how OptBees, an algorithm inspired by the collective decision-making of bee colonies, performed in the test bed developed for the Special Session & Competition on Real-Parameter Single Objective Optimization at CEC-2014. The test bed includes 30 scalable functions, many of which are both non-separable and highly multi-modal.

On the Practical Optimal Momentum Parameters

2019 IEEE 14th International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Knowledge Engineering (ISKE), 2019
This short note presents the optimal parameters of the steepest descent method with momentum for minimizing a quadratic function. Since the existing optimal parameters in the literature rely on the eigenvalue approximation of a matrix with high order, which is very expensive, this note gives another kind of practical optimal parameters without the ...

Optimal parameters for on-line arithmetic

International Journal of Computer Mathematics, 1995
Some general techniques are given for constructing divergent examples for on-line arithmetic operations whose parameters are chosen beyond the optimal ones which converge. They are applied in particular to the cases of fully on-line multiplication, division and square root.

Optimal Parameters for Multidimensional Integration

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1973
A method is given for generating parameters for multidimensional integration which are optimal in the sense of Korobov. It is an extension of Korobov’s method but decreases the time required to compute parameters. In higher dimensions Korobov optimal parameters can be produced by this method more inexpensively than by the original method.
