Multimodal Characterization Method for Metamaterials with Tunable Mechanical Stiffness and Electrical Resistivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a multimodal characterization method for a prototype metamaterial model structure that features four distinct states of mechanical stiffness and electrical resistivity. Through simulations and experiments, it uncovers insights into the structural behavior, the correlation between changes in electrical resistivity and mechanical ...

A Simulative Evaluation of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures in the Context of Elastocaloric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Impact of Hot Isostatic Pressing on Microstructure Evolution and Creep Performance of Powder Bed Fusion–Laser Beam Processed CM247LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) temperature on the microstructure and creep performance of powder bed fusion–laser beam processed CM247LC superalloy is investigated. Grain growth and γ’ precipitate evolution are characterized following HIP at varying temperatures.

Lost in Parameter Space?

Architectural Design, 2011
AbstractRather than eradicating the need for mathematics in architectural practice, computation has intensified it. As Fabian Scheurer and Hanno Stehling of designtoproduction explain, the uneven flow of a complex design from computer‐aided design (CAD) to computer‐aided engineering (CAE) and through to computer‐aided manufacturing (CAM) necessitates ...

Parameter-Space Based Robust Gain-Scheduling Design of Automated Vehicle Lateral Control

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019
This paper presents a robust gain-scheduling controller design based on the parameter-space approach. The gain-scheduling control is of interest for systems with varying dynamics at different operating conditions.

An investigation of the parameter space for a family of dissipative mappings.

Chaos, 2019
The parameter plane investigation for a family of two-dimensional, nonlinear, and area contracting map is made. Several dynamical features in the system such as tangent, period-doubling, pitchfork, and cusp bifurcations were found and discussed together ...

Drag and Track: A Direct Manipulation Interface for Contextualizing Data Instances within a Continuous Parameter Space

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2019
We present a direct manipulation technique that allows material scientists to interactively highlight relevant parameterized simulation instances located in dimensionally reduced spaces, enabling a user-defined understanding of a continuous parameter ...

Inversion of sediment parameters in the Biot parameter space

Proceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, 2004
Long range sediment tomography technique [Potty et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 108, 973–986 (2000)] using explosive sources has been developed and applied to data from the Primer and ASIAEX experiments. This inversion scheme estimates the compressional wave speed and attenuation matching the individual modal arrival times, i.e., inversion is carried out ...
