Reducing Hydrologic Parameter Uncertainty [PDF]
A methodology is introduced that can be used in hydrologic frequency analysis to reduce the parameter uncertainty. The methodology consists of developing generalized values of the parameters (mean, standard deviation, and skewness) through the use of a weighting procedure between sample and regionalized statistics.

Elastodynamic Optimization of a 5-DoF Parallel Kinematic Machine Considering Parameter Uncertainty
IEEE/ASME transactions on mechatronics, 2019Geometric errors, vibration, and elastic deformation are the main causes for inaccuracy of parallel kinematic machines (PKMs). Instead of tackling these inaccuracies after the prototype has been built, this paper proposes a design optimization method to ...

Reserves Uncertainty Calculation Accounting for Parameter Uncertainty
Canadian International Petroleum Conference, 2007Abstract An important goal of geostatistical modelling is to assess output uncertainty after processing realizations through a transfer function; in particular, to assess the uncertainty in the reserves. The decisions regarding stationarity and a modelling method are critical for obtaining reasonable results ...

Robust Adaptive Fuzzy Control for HFV With Parameter Uncertainty and Unmodeled Dynamics
IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2018This paper proposes a robust adaptive fuzzy tracking controller for a hypersonic flight vehicle (HFV) subject to both parametric uncertainties and unmodeled dynamics.

The effect of parameter uncertainty on a model with adjusted parameters

A conventional engineering education is based on the principle of “accuracy”. Engineers have been recognizing and perceiving the accuracy as one of their key principles ever since they were students. Any deviations are deemed undesirable and thus become as if non-existent in the psychological sense, though everyone realizes there can be no fault-free ...

Parameter Uncertainty in Asset Allocation
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2009We revisit an investment experiment that compares the performance of an investor using Bayesian methods for determining portfolio weights with an investor that uses the Monte Carlo based resampling approach advocated in Michaud (1998). Markowitz and Usmen (2003) showed that the Michaud investor always won. However, in the original experiment, the Bayes

Uncertainty in multiport S-parameters measurements
77th ARFTG Microwave Measurement Conference, 2011Measurement uncertainty is an often overlook aspect of modern RF and signal integrity measurements. Currently, one- and two-port measurement systems have been studied quite in detail, but few investigations have focused on multiport network analyzers.

The relaxed investor and parameter uncertainty [PDF]
We firstly consider an investor faced with the classical Merton problem of optimal investment in a log-Brownian asset and a fixed-interest bond, but constrained only to change portfolio (and, if relevant, consumption) choices at times which are a multiple of h.

Risk, Parameter Uncertainty, and Incentives [PDF]
A central prediction of principal-agent theory is the negative trade-off between risk and incentives. However, the empirical evidence is inconclusive. On the other hand, little attention has been paid to parameter uncertainty in the principal-agent literature, despite its important role in explaining many phenomena in various markets. In this paper, we
