Reusable, set-based selection algorithm for matched control groups

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science, 2017
Aims The wealth of data available in linked administrative datasets offers great potential for research, but researchers face methodological and computational challenges in data preparation, due to the size and complexity of the data.

Multilevel Optical Programming of Intrinsic Vacancies in Solution‐Processed MoS2 Films for Retinomorphic Color Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed MoS2 films with intrinsic sulfur‐vacancy traps are used to integrate light sensing and memory in a simple two‐terminal pixel. Successive optical pulses program persistent, multilevel conductance states, while oxygen exposure enables rapid erasure.

Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

ChicGrasp: Imitation‐Learning‐Based Customized Dual‐Jaw Gripper Control for Manipulation of Delicate, Irregular Bio‐Products

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Backpropagation Through Soft Body: Investigating Information Processing in Brain–Body Coupling Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study explores how information processing is distributed between brains and bodies through a codesign approach. Using the “backpropagation through soft body” framework, brain–body coupling agents are developed and analyzed across several tasks in which output is generated through the agents’ physical dynamics.

New Approaches of Generalised Fuzzy Soft sets on fuzzy Codes and Its Properties on Decision-Makings [version 2; peer review: 1 approved, 3 approved with reservations]

open access: yesF1000Research
Background Several scholars defined the concepts of fuzzy soft set theory and their application on decision-making problem. Based on this concept, researchers defined the generalised fuzzy soft set and its applications. However, to the best of the author’

Divergent Responses of Bacterial Communities to Permafrost Degradation and Their Associations With Carbon Across Vertical Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial α‐diversity decreases, but stochasticity and community stability increase across the 15 m‐depth vertical profiles and along the degraded gradient within the active layer. The abundance and interaction of core taxa mainly control community stability in the active and permafrost layers, respectively.

Parameterized hypercomplex convolutional network for accurate protein backbone torsion angle prediction

open access: yesScientific Reports
Predicting the backbone torsion angles corresponding to each residue of a protein from its amino acid sequence alone is a challenging problem in computational biology.

A degressive quantum convolutional neural network for quantum state classification and code recognition

open access: yesiScience
Summary: With the rapid development of quantum computing, a variety of quantum convolutional neural networks (QCNNs) are proposed. However, only 1/2n2 features of an n-qubits input are transferred to the next layer in a quantum pooling layer, which ...

Toward 3D Retrieval of Exoplanet Atmospheres: Assessing Thermochemical Equilibrium Estimation Methods

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
Characterizing exoplanetary atmospheres via Bayesian retrievals requires assuming some chemistry model, such as thermochemical equilibrium or parameterized abundances.
