Practical Access to Dynamic Programming on Tree Decompositions

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2019
Parameterized complexity theory has led to a wide range of algorithmic breakthroughs within the last few decades, but the practicability of these methods for real-world problems is still not well understood.

Vacancy‐Suppressed Garnet Electrolytes for Durable Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Li/O‐rich sintering strategy effectively suppresses intrinsic lithium and oxygen vacancies in cubic garnet electrolytes, yielding a dense and stable microstructure. The vacancy‐controlled electrolyte exhibits enhanced interfacial and air stability, enabling long‐term solid‐state battery cycling and providing a general design principle for defect ...

Systematic Engineering of Proteases in Saccharopolyspora Spinosa Reveals Synergistic Enhancement of Spinosad Biosynthesis via Substrate Flux Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARTP mutagenesis yielded Saccharopolyspora spinosa mutant D184 with improved extracellular nitrogen utilization. An integrated workflow of protease genetic manipulation, multi‐omics, and rational synergy design pinpointed a pepP‐clpP‐htpX synergistic triangular combination.

Characterizing quantum codes via the coefficients in Knill-Laflamme conditions

open access: yesnpj Quantum Information
Quantum error correction (QEC) is essential for protecting quantum information against noise, yet understanding the structure of the Knill-Laflamme (KL) coefficients $$\left\{{\lambda }_{ij}\right\}$$ λ i j from the condition $$P{E}_{i}^{\dagger }{E}_{j ...

Smart Optogenetics for Real‐Time Automated Control of Cardiac Electrical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We are able to stop dangerous heart‐rhythm spirals before they fully form. Within about 100 ms, it pinpoints the spiral's tiny central tip (≈0.9 mm) using light‐based sensing and machine learning, then shines targeted light to shut it down. This fast, precise, closed‐loop approach detects, targets, and terminates arrhythmias in real time.

On Parameterized Gallager's First Bounds for Binary Linear Codes over AWGN Channels

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, nested Gallager regions with a single parameter is introduced to exploit Gallager's first bounding technique (GFBT). We present a necessary and sufficient condition on the optimal parameter. We also present a sufficient condition (with a simple geometrical explanation) under which the optimal parameter does not depend on the signal-to ...

PIK3CA Mutations Downregulate PPT1 to Promote Adipogenesis by Suppressing P300 Depalmitoylation and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that somatic PIK3CA mutations suppress PPT1 expression via activation of the PI3K–AKT–c‐JUN axis. This reduction in PPT1 weakens its interaction with P300, thereby increasing palmitoylation at C1176 of P300 and protecting P300 from lysosomal degradation.

Photonuclear Population of 229m,gTh in Th‐Doped Crystals Toward Nuclear Clock Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a novel photonuclear approach for producing the nuclear clock isomer 229mTh in thorium‐doped crystals, overcoming current supply limitations. Through cross‐section calculations and Monte Carlo simulations, we identify optimal crystal materials and irradiation conditions, achieving high signal‐to‐noise ratios.
