Non-Parametric Change-Point Estimation using String Matching Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesMethodology and Computing in Applied Probability, 2013
Given the output of a data source taking values in a finite alphabet, we wish to detect change-points, that is times when the statistical properties of the source change. Motivated by ideas of match lengths in information theory, we introduce a novel non-parametric estimator which we call CRECHE (CRossings Enumeration CHange Estimator).

Investigating the Income Status of Isfahan Province Using a Parametric Approach: 2011-2021 [PDF]

open access: yesپژوهش‌های برنامه و توسعه, 2023
The purpose of this article is to investigate the distribution of household income in Isfahan province by using the data of the household income and expenditure plan, for the period of 2011-2021 using parametric methods.

Time dependent nonclassical properties of even and odd nonlinear coherent states [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We construct even and odd nonlinear coherent states of a parametric oscillator and examine their nonclassical properties. It has been shown that these superpositions exhibit squeezing and photon antibunching which change with time.Comment: 3 eps ...

NON-PARAMETRIC MANN-KENDALL AND SEN’S SLOPE ESTIMATE AS A METHOD FOR DETECTING TREND WITHIN HYDRO-METEOROLOGICAL TIME SERIES: A REVIEW

open access: yesAcademy Journal of Science and Engineering, 2023
Climate and water resources are interconnected in a complex way such that a change in any one induces a change in another. Trend analysis is usually employed while assessing the long-term impact of climate variability on the environment, particularly ...

The Smart Detection of Ship Severe Roll Motions and Decision-Making for Evasive Actions

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
This paper presents a numerical model for the smart detection of synchronous and parametric roll resonance of a ship. The model implements manoeuvring equations superimposed onto ship dynamics in waves.

Violation of Bell's Inequality with Photons from Independent Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We report a violation of Bell's inequality using one photon from a parametric down-conversion source and a second photon from an attenuated laser beam. The two photons were entangled at a beam splitter using the post-selection technique of Shih and Alley

The Cost of Change in Parametric Modeling: A Roadmap [PDF]

open access: yesComputer-Aided Design and Applications, 2020
In this paper, we lay the foundation for estimating the cost associated to parametric modeling changes and discuss its implications on the broader context of engineering change management. We provide an analysis of the different stages, decision points and relationships between the stages involved in the change process and present a

Parametric and Nonparametric Sequential Change Detection in R: The cpm Package

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2015
The change point model framework introduced in Hawkins, Qiu, and Kang (2003) and Hawkins and Zamba (2005a) provides an effective and computationally efficient method for detecting multiple mean or variance change points in sequences of Gaussian random ...

Non-Parametric Shape Optimization of a Football Boot Bottom Plate

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
This paper describes the non-parametric shape optimization process for a football boot bottom plate. The non-parametric shape optimization process changes the nodes’ location of a model and outputs an optimum shape, which satisfies an optimization ...

The Effect of Stacking Sequence and Layer Number on the Natural Frequency of Composite Laminated Plate [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Science and Engineering, 2018
By depending on 1st order shear deformation theory, a Graphite Epoxy composite plate has been analyzed dynamically in the present work by using a quadratic element (8-node diso parametric).
