Curve Parametrization by Moments

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2009
We present a method for deriving a parametric description of a conic section (quadratic curve) in an image from the moments of the image with respect to several specially-constructed kernel functions. In contrast to Hough-transform-type methods, the moment approach requires no large accumulator array.

On a Dyadic Parametrization of Curves

Computational Methods and Function Theory, 2004
Let \(C\) be a curve in the complex plane where \(C = \{a(t): 0 \leq t \leq 1\},\) where \(a(0) \neq a(1)\). The authors discuss a dyadic paramerization for \(C\) first introduced by the first two authors [Michigan Math. J. 41, 269-284 (1994; Zbl 0815.30010)]. Let \(z(0) = a(0)\) and \(z(1) = a(1)\) and let \(C_{1,1}\) denote the directed segment from \

Parametric models averaging for optimized non-parametric fragility curve estimation based on intensity measure data clustering

open access: yesStructural Safety, 2019
International audienceSeismic fragility curves give the probability of exceedance of the threshold of a damage state of a structure, or a non-structural component, conditioned on the intensity measure of the seismic motion.

Parametric curves on meshes

Proceedings of the 3rd international conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques in Australasia and South East Asia, 2005
In this paper, we propose a method for creating parametric curves on triangular meshes. A curve on a mesh is frequently used as a boundary curve of a specific region of a mesh in mesh modeling and applications such as texture mapping, remeshing or morphing.

Degenerate parametric curves

Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1984
A degenerate parametric polynomial curve is defined as one that (a) does not have a one-to-one correspondence between points of the curve and points in the domain or (b) has a common factor in the numerator and denominator (for rational curves). Methods are developed to detect and remove such situations, i.e. by a suitable reparametrization.

Algebraically rectifiable parametric curves

Computer Aided Geometric Design, 1993
A differentiable parametric curve \((x(t),y(t))\) is said to be a polynomial parametric one, if \(x(t)\), \(y(t)\) both are polynomials. In this paper sufficient and necessary conditions for the arc length \(s(t) = \int^ t_ 0 \sqrt{x'{}^ 2(\tau) + y'{}^ 2(\tau)} d\tau\) of a polynomial parametric curve to be an algebraic function of the parameter are ...

On the Parametrization of an Algebraic Curve

Mathematical Notes, 2019
Given an algebraic plane curve, the existence of a global uniformization is guaranteed by the Uniformization Theorem, but there is no an algorithm for its calculation. Currently, it is very well known how to parametrize the curve if its genus is equal to \(0\) or \(1\) or if its group of birational authomorphisms is sufficiently large. The main goal of

Parametric and nonparametric curve fitting

Automatica, 2006
This article summarizes the convergence issues for the classical curve fitting problem. The properties of the input signal that ensure convergence of the estimate are investigated. In the parametric case, the standard least squares method is used and the sufficient conditions under which the estimated parameters converge to their true values almost ...
