The oscillating‐water‐column (OWC) spar‐buoy is a type of wave energy converter that may exhibit undesirable large roll and pitch amplitudes caused by a dynamic instability induced by parametric resonance.

Particle production in the oscillating inflation model [PDF]
We investigate the particle production of a scalar field $\chi$ coupled to an inflaton field $\phi$ ($g^2\phi^2\chi^2/2$) in the {\it oscillating inflation} model, which was recently proposed by Damour and Mukhanov. Although the fluctuation of the $\phi$

Constant-roll inflation: confrontation with recent observational data
The previously proposed class of phenomenological inflationary models in which the assumption of inflaton slow-roll is replaced by the more general, constant-roll condition is compared with the most recent cosmological observational data, mainly the ...

Optimization Procedure and Toolchain for Roll Dynamic Geometry
In rolls manufactured from first bent and then welded sheets of steel, the asymmetric distribution of mass due to the weld seam as well as imperfections of the geometry due to the bending may cause the roll cross-section roundness profiles to deform due ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Extreme value prediction of the roll motion under random seas
ObjectiveIn this work, two stability failure models, i.e., the dead ship condition and parametric roll are selected in order to study and evaluate ship stability as well as safety at seas.
