Reheating via a generalized non-minimal coupling of curvature to matter

open access: yes, 2011
In this work one shows that a generalized non-minimal coupling between geometry and matter is compatible with Starobinsky inflation and leads to a successful process of preheating, a reheating scenario based on the production of massive particles via ...

Assessment of Skin in Patients With Systemic Sclerosis Using High‐Frequency Ultrasound and Shear Wave Elastography: A Comparative Study With Histology, Molecular, and Clinical Parameters

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Ultrasound (US) has been proposed as a potential tool for assessing skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, a large‐scale comparison of US‐based assessment with histologic markers of skin fibrosis has not been reported. We evaluated US‐based skin assessments for their face validity (differentiation between involved SSc and healthy

A Generative AI Model for irregular wave conditions that induce parametric roll

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
Parametric roll is a nonlinear and intermittent dynamical phenomenon that causes damage to or loss of cargo, and poses significant risks for passenger safety and comfort.

Optimization design of a novel X-type six-high rolling mill based on maximum roll system stiffness.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
The present investigation devices a novel X-type six-high (X-6h) mill. In addition, parametric models of different roll layouts such as the four-high (4-h), I-type six-high (I-6h), and X-6h mills are established. Three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE)

Investigations of the through‐thickness residual stress distribution during the partial heating roll forming process of square and rectangular hollow steel sections

open access: yesEngineering Reports, 2022
With the growing demand for rectangular and square hollow steel sections in the last few decades, the cold roll forming process has become a widely acknowledged manufacturing method.

AIS-Enabled Weather Routing for Cargo Loss Prevention

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
The operation of any vessel includes risks, such as mechanical failure, collision, property loss, cargo loss, or damage. For modern container ships, safe navigation is challenging as the rate of innovation regarding design, speed profiles, and carrying ...

Inflation Dynamics and Reheating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We review the theory of inflation with single and multiple fields paying particular attention to the dynamics of adiabatic and entropy/isocurvature perturbations which provide the primary means of testing inflationary models.

Evaluation of a Novel Electric Health Record Sidecar Application to Display Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Outcomes During Clinic Visits: Results of a Stepped‐Wedge Cluster Randomized Pragmatic Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We developed a novel electronic health record sidecar application to visualize key rheumatoid arthritis (RA) outcomes, including disease activity, physical function, and pain, via a patient‐facing graphical interface designed for use during outpatient visits (“RA PRO dashboard”).

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Vibration Characteristics of Hot Rolling Mill Rolls Based on Elastoplastic Hysteretic Deformation

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Based on the analysis of the influence of roll vibration on the elastoplastic deformation state of a workpiece in a rolling process, a dynamic rolling force model with the hysteresis effect is established.
