Probability of Parametric Roll in Random Seaways
2011The aim of the present chapter is to advocate for a very effective stochastic procedure based on the First-Order Reliability method (FORM) and Monte Carlo simulations (MCS), for prediction of parametric rolling in stationary stochastic seaways. Due to efficient optimization procedures implemented in standard FORM codes and the short duration of the ...

Fast parametric rolling simulations of container ships
2012The term parametric roll is used to describe the phenomenon of large unstable roll motion suddenly occurring in (close to) head or following seas. The prime reason for parametric rolling is the variation of the ship’s stability characteristics because of the constant change of the underwater hull geometry as waves travel past the ship.

The estimation methods for parametric rolling prediction
2009This paper focuses on explaining the phenomenon of parametric roll resonance with the emphasis on the physics that governs such a motion. It reviews the various approaches adopted to represent that effect, including models with 1, 1.5, 3 and 6 degress of freedom (DOF).
