Polynomials in Control Theory Parametrized by Their Roots [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to introduce the space of roots to study the topological properties of the spaces of polynomials. Instead of identifying a monic complex polynomial with the vector of its coefficients, we identify it with the set of its roots.

Item Response Models in Psychometrika and Psychometric Textbooks
Item response theory modeling articles from 83 years of Psychometrika are sorted based on the taxonomy by Thissen and Steinberg (1986). Results from 377 research and review articles indicate that the usual unidimensional parametric item response theory ...

Theory of Parametric Amplification in Superlattices
We consider a high-frequency response of electrons in a single miniband of superlattice subject to dc and ac electric fields. We show that Bragg reflections in miniband result in a parametric resonance which is detectable using ac probe field. We establish theoretical feasibility of phase-sensitive THz amplification at the resonance.

A Review of Shannon and Differential Entropy Rate Estimation
In this paper, we present a review of Shannon and differential entropy rate estimation techniques. Entropy rate, which measures the average information gain from a stochastic process, is a measure of uncertainty and complexity of a stochastic process. We

Copula–entropy theory for multivariate stochastic modeling in water engineering
The copula–entropy theory combines the entropy theory and the copula theory. The entropy theory has been extensively applied to derive the most probable univariate distribution subject to specified constraints by applying the principle of maximum entropy.

Exact computation for existence of a knot counterexample
Previously, numerical evidence was presented of a self-intersecting Bezier curve having the unknot for its control polygon. This numerical demonstration resolved open questions in scientic visualization, but did not provide a formal proof of self ...
