MODWT-based outflow decomposition and individual contribution of regulation sites over Paranapanema river basin

open access: yes, 2023
The viability of hydropower production depends on water and energy distribution, storage capacities, and technical constraints. Understanding the sensitivity of runoff variability to hydroelectricity production is a step to better assess its potential and add value to society.

Phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbon contents of macrophytes in lakes lateral to a tropical river (Paranapanema River, São Paulo, Brazil) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Limnologica Brasiliensia (Online), 2010
AIM: The aim of this paper was to determine the phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbon contents of aquatic macrophyte species during two periods of the year in the land-water transition zone of three lakes lateral to the Paranapanema River (Sao Paulo); METHODS: Plants, water, and sediment were collected during two distinct periods (August 1998 and February ...

Out of Amazonia: late-Holocene climate change and the Tupi–Guarani trans-continental expansion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The late Holocene expansion of the Tupi-Guarani languages from southern Amazonia to SE South America constitutes one of the largest expansions of any linguistic family in the world, spanning ~ 4000 km between latitudes 0°S and 35°S at about 2500 yr B.P ...

The Oxygen Deficit in Jurumirim Reservoir(Paranapanema River, Sao Paulo, Brazil).

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Limnology (Rikusuigaku Zasshi), 1992
Oxygen actual and relative deficits in Jurumirim Reservoir were computed from the temperature and dissolved oxygen profiles determined in a study from March 1988 to March 1989. The reservoir presented an isothermy from June to September and a thermal stratification from October to March.

Analysis by RAPD of the genetic structure of Astyanax altiparanae (Pisces, Characiformes) in reservoirs on the Paranapanema River, Brazil

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2004
In this study, the RAPD technique was used to analyze the genetic structure of populations of the fish Astyanax altiparanae (Characidae, Tetragonopterinae) living in the lower, middle and upper Paranapanema River, Brazil.

A fractal pattern of hierarchical genetic population structure in mixed stocks across fish segregated by dams revealed by genomic resources for curimba Prochilodus lineatus

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Genomic resources, new microsatellite markers and a novel observation of a fractal pattern in the genetic population structure are presented for curimba, Prochilodus lineatus, a freshwater migratory model species of South America. Our main goals were to investigate the presence of mixed fish stocks and the effects of damming‐induced ...

Zooplankton assemblages (Copepoda and Cladocera) in a cascade of reservoirs of a large tropical river (SE Brazil) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The construction of reservoirs for the production of electricity is one of the major human interferences on large tropical rivers. This study analyzes the structure of the microcrustacean assemblages (Copepoda and Cladocera) in a cascade of 8 reservoirs ...

Dispersal and delimitation: Phylogenomics of Connaraceae prompts revised generic delimitation in Cnestideae and reveals global biogeographic patterns

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract The tempo and mode of assembly of the world's most diverse, tropical floras remain poorly known. Evolutionary relationships within pantropical plant clades such as Connaraceae (Oxalidales, ca. 220 species) offer an opportunity to address this issue.
