Morphological and molecular characterisation of Paranoplocephala buryatiensis n. sp. and P. longivaginata Chechulin & Gulyaev, 1998 (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) in voles of the genus Clethrionomys

Systematic Parasitology, 2006
A new species, Paranoplocephala buryatiensis n. sp. (Cestoda:Anoplocephalidae), is described from the grey-sided vole Clethrionomys rufocanus (Sundevall) in the Republic of Buryatia (Russian Federation) and compared with P. longivaginata Chechulin & Gulyaev, 1998, a parasite of the red vole C. rutilus (Pallas) in the same region. P. buryatiensis n. sp.

Studies on the Helminth Fauna of Alaska. XXII Paranoplocephala wigginsi n. sp., A Cestode from an Arctic Ground Squirrel

open access: yesTransactions of the American Microscopical Society, 1954
During the summer of 1953, Mr. Edward T. Roche, of the Department of Zoology, University of Southern California, continued observations on the life history of the ground squirrel, Citellus undulatus barrowensis (Merriam), along the Meade River south of Point Barrow, Alaska.

Description and morphometric variability of Paranoplocephala serrata n. sp. (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) in collared lemmings (Dicrostonyx spp., Arvicolinae) from Arctic Siberia and North America

Systematic Parasitology, 2000
We describe Paranoplocephala serrata n. sp. (Cestoda, Anoplocephalidae) from collared lemmings Dicrostonyx torquatus and D. groenlandicus (Arvicolinae, Rodentia) in Arctic Siberia and North America. The new species was recorded from the Yamal Peninsula (type-locality), Yana Delta, Kolyma Delta, Wrangel Island, Alaska and Victoria Island/Kent Peninsula (

Phylogenetic relationships and taxonomic revision of Paranoplocephala Lühe, 1910 sensu lato (Cestoda, Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae).

Zootaxa, 2014
An extensive phylogenetic analysis and genus-level taxonomic revision of Paranoplocephala Lühe, 1910-like cestodes (Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae) are presented. The phylogenetic analysis is based on DNA sequences of two partial mitochondrial genes, i.e.

Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of the bank vole tapeworm, Paranoplocephala omphalodes (Cestoda, Cyclophyllidea, Anoplocephalidae)

Parasitology Research, 1998
The mature Paranoplocephala omphalodes spermatozoon is filiform, tapered at both ends and lacks mitochondria. Its anterior extremity exhibits an apical cone of electron-dense material measuring about 900 nm in length and 200 nm in width, and two crested-like bodies.
