Taxonomy, genetic differentiation and Holarctic biogeography of Paranoplocephala spp. (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) in collared lemmings (Dicrostonyx; Arvicolinae) [PDF]

open access: yesBiological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2001
The present study reviews the taxonomy of anoplocephalid cestodes of collared lemmings (Dicrostonyx spp.) and describes the patterns of cestode biogeography in the Holarctic region. The morphological differentiation of cestode species is augmented with a genetic differentiation based on three independent markers.

A taxonomic revision of the Paranoplocephala primordialis (Douthitt) complex (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) in voles and squirrels [PDF]

open access: yesZootaxa, 2007
This study redescribes Paranoplocephala primordialis (Douthitt) in the red squirrel, Tamiasciurus hudsonicus, describes two new, related species of Paranoplocephala Lühe from Microtus and Myodes (syn. Clethrionomys) voles, and summarizes the patterns of their host specificity and geographic distribution, particularly in Alaska and adjacent regions in ...

Three-way relationships between gut microbiota, helminth assemblages and bacterial infections in wild rodent populations

open access: yesPeer Community Journal, 2023
Despite its central role in host fitness, the gut microbiota may differ greatly between individuals. This variability is often mediated by environmental or host factors such as diet, genetics, and infections. Recently, particular attention has been given

Review of tapeworms of rodents in the Republic of Buryatia, with emphasis on anoplocephalid cestodes

open access: yesZooKeys, 2009
Examination of ca. 500 rodents [Microtus spp., Myodes spp., Cricetulus barabensis (Pallas), Apodemus peninsulae Thomas] from 14 localities in the Republic of Buryatia (Russian Federation) revealed a minimum of 11 cestode species representing ...

Morphological characterisation of Paranoplocephala bairdi (Schad, 1954) (Cestoda: Anoplocephalidae) in heather voles Phenacomys spp. and tree voles Arborimus spp., and related species in voles and lemmings (Muridae: Arvicolinae). [PDF]

open access: yesFolia Parasitologica, 2005
The taxonomical status of Paranoplocephala bairdi (Schad, 1954)-like cestodes (Anoplocephalidae) in heather voles Phenacomys spp. and tree voles Arborimus spp. (Muridae: Arvicolinae) and their discrimination from five related species of Paranoplocephala is assessed using uni- and multivariate morphometrics.

Heavy metal accumulation in small terrestrial rodents infected by cestodes or nematodes

open access: yesParasite, 2008
The aim of the present study was to assess whether there is a difference in accumulation of heavy metal ions (Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) in hosts (small mammals) infected by cestode parasites when compared to those without cestode infection.

The genera Paranoplocephala Lühe, 1910 and Anoplocephaloides Baer, 1923 (Cestoda : Anoplocephalidae), with particular reference to species in Rodents [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de Parasitologie Humaine et Comparée, 1976
The present study redefines the systematic arrangement and taxonomic status of some anoplocephaline cestodes previously allocated among the genera Andrya Railliet, 1893. Paranoplacephala Lühe, 1910, and Aprostatandrya Kirshenblat, 1938. Comparisons indicated that Paranoplocephala omphalodes (Hermann, 1783), type species of Paranoplocephala, differs ...
