Archives of Dermatology, 1952HAIR DYES have been used since ancient times. There is evidence that the ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans used them. The hair dyes used by the ancients were vegetable in origin. Nutgalls, saffron, thapsia, 1 henna, indigo, camomile, sage tea, and many others were used for hair coloring. Dermatitis or systemic poisoning from hair dyes is not known

Dermatitis, 2006Lymphomatoid contact dermatitis is a form of pseudolymphoma that was first described in 1976 by Orbaneja et al. Since that initial report, a number of allergens have been reported to cause this type of pseudolymphoma. Most cases involve hyperplasia of T cells. We describe a case of cutaneous B-cell pseudolymphoma due to paraphenylenediamine.

Veterinary and human toxicology, 1995Edema of the upper airways and rhabdomyolysis developed in a young patient as a consequence of paraphenylenediamine poisoning. Treatment with adrenaline, steroids and enforced diuresis prevented tracheostomy and renal failure.
