Current Psychiatry Reports, 2018To examine the empirical bases underlying the diagnoses of the paraphilias. We address issues concerning the reliability of these diagnoses and their implications for etiology, treatment, and prognosis.Research on these issues with the paraphilias is quite limited except for those paraphilics whose interests lead them to sexually offend.

Paraphilias: Phenomenology and Classification
American Journal of Psychotherapy, 1984DSM-III incorrectly designates the majority of paraphilias as atypical. Only eight are named, and those because of their forensic history, rather than their pathology and therapeutic need. In this paper, thirty-odd paraphilias are subdivided into six categories on the basis of their phenomenological dynamics.
