Candida parapsilosis (C. parapsilosis) and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa (R. mucilaginosa) have emerged as a potential pathogen in immunosuppressed hosts; they rarely induce onychomycosis in immunocompetent hosts without assistance from other pathogens.

Conserved and divergent roles of Bcr1 and CFEM proteins in Candida parapsilosis and Candida albicans. [PDF]
Candida parapsilosis is a pathogenic fungus that is major cause of hospital-acquired infection, predominantly due to growth as biofilms on indwelling medical devices.

Caspofungin heteroresistance is prevalent in clinical Candida glabrata isolates and depends on calcineurin‐mediated stress adaptation. This transient phenotype serves as a reservoir for resistance evolution, enabling the emergence of stable resistant descendants under prolonged drug pressure.

Candida parapsilosis of the nail-bed without onychomycosis [PDF]
Candida parapsilosis is an emerging fungal pathogen that was once thought to be solely a colonizing organism. C. parapsilosis is increasingly becoming reported as the most common Candida species that causes onychomycosis.

This study provides the first comparative phytochemical and functional evaluation of Gonocytisus angulatus and Podocytisus caramanicus seeds. Methanolic extracts showed richer phenolic profiles, while aqueous decoctions provided higher extraction yields. P. caramanicus exhibited strong ABTS radical scavenging activity.
