In the work reported herein, dipole‐engineered sulfonated carbon nanofibers enable conductive additives to actively regulate interphase formation in silicon anodes. Polar sulfonyl groups guide electrolyte decomposition to form a compact LiF‐rich interphase while promoting robust integration with silicon.

Tick salivary protein Cystatin: structure, anti-inflammation and molecular mechanism
Ticks are blood-sucking ectoparasites that secrete immunomodulatory substances in saliva to hosts during engorging. Cystatins, a tick salivary protein and natural inhibitor of Cathepsins, are attracting growing interest globally because of the ...

Tuning Separator Chemistry: Improving Zn Anode Compatibility via Functionalized Chitin Nanofibers
Nanochitin derived from waste shrimp shells is used to fabricate separators for aqueous zinc batteries. By tuning the density of amine and carboxylic surface groups, water mobility at the separator interface is controlled, promoting uniform zinc deposition, suppressing dendrite growth, and enabling exceptional cycling stability exceeding 2000 h ...

Grouping facilitates avoidance of parasites by fish [PDF]
Background. Parasite distribution is often highly heterogeneous, and intensity of infection depends, among other things, on how well hosts can avoid areas with a high concentration of parasites.

The African painted dog (Lycaon pictus) is a highly endangered carnivore of sub- Saharan Africa, which in the last century has suffered a population decline of almost 99%. With only 3,000-5,500 animals remaining in the wild it is imperative to understand

Gametogenesis in malaria parasites is mediated by the cGMP-dependent protein kinase. [PDF]
Malaria parasite transmission requires differentiation of male and female gametocytes into gametes within a mosquito following a blood meal. A mosquito-derived molecule, xanthurenic acid (XA), can trigger gametogenesis, but the signalling events ...

A graded‐interface hydrogel‐polymer electrolyte decouples water activity to simultaneously stabilize the Zn anode and sustain cathode kinetics. The flexible design supports dendrite‐free cycling over 1600 h, high capacity in both MnO2 and V2O5 full cells, and stable pouch‐cell performance under bending, resolving the fundamental water conflict in ...
