Rapid and reliable identification of Staphylococcus aureus capsular serotypes by means of artificial neural network-assisted Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy [PDF]
Staphylococcus aureus capsular polysaccharides (CP) are important virulence factors and represent putative targets for vaccine development. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop a high-throughput method to identify and discriminate the ...

South America has a remarkable genetic diversity of avian haemosporidians, yet only a few species have been described combining molecular and morphological data. This study introduces Plasmodium (Novyella) pyriglenae sp. nov., a new species infecting the white‐shouldered fire‐eye (Pyriglena leucoptera) in Brazil.

ABSTRACT Quorum sensing (QS) is a bacterial cell communication system in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which regulates the production of several virulence factors, including pyocyanin, exoproteases, and biofilm formation. Natural products (NPs) have demonstrated their ability to control QS in different bacteria. This work evaluated the antimicrobial and anti‐

This study reveals the pleiotropic role of Trypanosoma cruzi P21 protein in the low‐virulence G strain. P21 knockout significantly impairs parasite invasion, intracellular multiplication, and egress in vitro. In vivo, P21 deficiency leads to reduced cardiac tissue parasitism, suggesting its role in establishing and maintaining silent infections.

Escenario actual de la resistencia a la colistina mediada por plásmidos en América Latina [PDF]
Colistin resistance can occur by chromosomal mutations and by acquisition of plasmid-carrying determinants, mainly mcr-1. In the recent years, we have observed the outburst of this resistance gene in our region. Due to the risk of the rapid dissemination

Concentrated metabolites from Rhizobium tropici (CM‐RT) were evaluated for their ability to induce resistance and control Sclerotinia stem rot in chickpeas. Root application of CM‐RT reduced disease incidence when compared to acibenzolar‐S‐methyl. Gene expression analysis revealed upregulation of defence‐related genes linked to jasmonic acid, ethylene,

The dynamics of Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense under rotating magnetic fields are explored through the analysis of thousands of trajectories. The study reveals distinct navigation modes and transitions influenced by field strength and frequency. Directionality, alignment, and swimming behavior are examined to uncover how these microorganisms respond ...
