A mathematical model of parathyroid gland biology
Altered parathyroid gland biology in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major contributor to chronic kidney disease‐mineral bone disorder (CKD‐MBD). This disorder is associated with an increased risk of bone disorders, vascular calcification,

Modeling of biological doses and mechanical effects on bone transduction [PDF]
Shear stress, hormones like parathyroid and mineral elements like calcium mediate the amplitude of stimulus signal which affects the rate of bone remodeling. The current study investigates the theoretical effects of different metabolic doses in stimulus signal level on bone.

Primary Hyperparathyroidism due to Parathyroid Adenoma Originated from Supernumerary Gland
Introduction. The variability of the location of the parathyroid glands is directly related to the events that occur during embryonic development. The impact that an individual submits more than four parathyroid glands is close to 13%.

Cryopreservation of Parathyroid Glands [PDF]
The risk of permanent hypoparathyroidism following thyroid and parathyroid surgery is around 1% in the hands of experienced endocrine surgeons. Although this complication is rare, rendering a patient permanently aparathyroid has significant consequences on the health and quality of life of the patient.

Lipohyperplasia of the Parathyroid Glands [PDF]
Parathyroid lipohyperplasia is an extremely rare cause of hyperparathyroidism. According to a MEDLINE search, there have been only 9 previously reported cases of parathyroid lipohyperplasia in the English-language literature. We report a new case of parathyroid lipohyperplasia, with a brief discussion of this rare disease process.

The Parathyroid Gland and Heart Disease.
The parathyroid glands are critical to maintaining calcium homeostasis through actions of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Recent clinical and molecular research has shown that direct and indirect actions of PTH also affect the heart and vasculature through ...
