Cardiovascular Biomarkers in Nocturnal Hemodialysis and Their Association With Physical Performance

open access: yesHemodialysis International, Volume 29, Issue 4, Page 519-529, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction The cardiovascular biomarkers troponin T, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide, and fibroblast growth factor 23 are elevated in hemodialysis patients and associated with an increased cardiovascular mortality risk. Nocturnal hemodialysis improves the fluid status in hemodialysis patients.

Perirenal Fat in Disease Progression: From Inflammatory Mediator to Therapeutic Target

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urology, Volume 32, Issue 10, Page 1314-1320, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Perirenal fat (PRF), the adipose tissue that encases the kidneys, has long been considered a passive energy reservoir and mechanical buffer. However, emerging evidence has identified PRF as a biologically active visceral fat depot that secretes adipocytokines, inflammatory mediators, and other bioactive molecules, and thereby contributes to ...

Low‐protein diet for chronic kidney disease: Evidence, controversies, and practical guidelines

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 298, Issue 4, Page 319-335, October 2025.
Abstract The benefits of a low‐protein diet (LPD) in patients with altered kidney function remain controversial. Dietary intake studies are inherently complex and may present numerous biases that must be understood and controlled. Due to these challenges, the scientific evidence in this area remains limited and is subject to dispute.

Systemic inflammatory biomarkers in relation to lung function and exercise‐induced bronchoconstriction in adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Allergy and Immunology, Volume 36, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Introduction The forced oscillation technique (FOT) complements spirometry in assessing lung function, with higher sensitivity to small airway dysfunction. Systemic inflammation is thought to influence lung development and exercise‐induced bronchoconstriction (EIB), but its relationship to circulating inflammatory proteins in adolescents is ...
