Previous History .—S. G., a boy, aged 18 months, was born at term, of normal delivery, the birth weight being 8 pounds (3,808 gm.). He was breast fed for eight months. Gradually thereafter, cows' milk, boiled, cereals, stewed fruits, vegetables and egg were added. The child sat up at 7 months and began to walk at the age of 13 months.

Typhoid fever is estimated to have caused 21.6 million illnesses and 216,500 deaths globally in 2000, affecting all ages. There is also one case of paratyphoid fever for every four of typhoid.
