Procedural Tools and Technics for Transcatheter Paravalvular Leak Closure: Lessons from a Decade of Experience [PDF]
Prosthetic paravalvular leaks (PVLs) are associated with congestive heart failure and hemolysis. Surgical PVL closure carries high risks. Transcatheter implantation of occluding devices in PVL is a lower risk but challenging procedure.

ABSTRACT The SAPIEN M3 system has been recently approved for transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR). The transeptal guide sheath is used to deploy the dock, which is completely released before inserting and deploying the M3 valve using the same femoral access, transeptal puncture (TSP) and guide sheath.

Percutaneous closure of a large aortic paravalvular leak using two duct occluder devices
A 21-year-old male presented with severe aortic paravalvular leak. He had undergone three cardiac surgeries and also had chronic kidney disease. It was decided for a trans-catheter closure owing to the risks of a fourth surgery and co-morbidity.

Interventional therapies for chronic heart failure: An overview of recent developments
Abstract Heart failure (HF), the final manifestation of most cardiovascular diseases, has become a major global health concern, affecting millions of individuals. Despite basic drug treatments, patients present with high morbidity and mortality rates. However, recent advancements in interventional therapy have shown promising results in improving the ...

Frailty and Five‐Year Mortality After TAVR in Patients Aged 75 Years and Older
In patients aged 75 years and older undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement, frailty assessed by the Clinical Frailty Scale was the most robust geriatric factor independently associated with five‐year mortality. This study highlights the specific prognostic value of frailty beyond short‐term outcomes.

Transcatheter treatment of Starr-Edwards paravalvular leaks
A 56-year-old patient was referred because of refractory heart failure and mild haemolysis caused by multiple, severe paravalvular leaks of a Starr-Edwards valve implanted in mitral position 23 years before.

ABSTRACT Atrioventricular conduction disturbances and the need for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) therapy are frequently required after transcatheter tricuspid valve implantation (TTVI). The interaction between the annulus, transcatheter heart valve and the leads is often complex and the optimal management under debate.

Paravalvular regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Is the problem solved?
Paravalvular regurgitation is a frequent complication after transcatheter aortic valve replacement and its association with worse outcomes depends on the degree of its severity.

Progressive breathlessness post mitral valve replacement
Paravalvular leak occurs in 1–5% patients following surgical valve replacement and is associated with complications including haemolysis, heart failure and endocarditis. Re-do surgery is difficult with mortality rates approaching 16%.

Comparative Evaluation of Suture Techniques in Mitral Valve Replacement: Impact on Clinical Outcomes
Background: This study aimed to compare the outcomes of mitral valve replacement (MVR) using the intermittent simple suture technique versus the horizontal matrix suture technique with pledgeted in terms of paravalvular leakage and infective endocarditis.
