Common Signatures of Altered Gene Regulation and Invasiveness of Different Breast Cancer Cell Lines after Matrix Interface Crossing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Interface transmigration reprograms triple‐negative breast cancer cells, triggering a shared switch toward more aggressive and invasive phenotypes. Using a collagen I interface model, this study identifies shared transcriptional changes involving proliferation, chromatin remodeling, and DNA repair pathways.

Anti-discrimination Legislation and the Efficiency-Enhancing Role of Mandatory Parental Leave

open access: yes, 2016
We study a setting where anti-discrimination legislation gives rise to adverse selection in the labor market. Firms rely on nonlinear compensation contracts to screen workers who differ in their family/career orientation.

Deciphering the Role of Cancer Stem Cells in Breast Cancer Brain Colonization Using a Novel Patient‐Derived Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that stem‐like cells isolated from breast cancer brain metastases drive the spread and growth of tumors in the brain. Among them, a highly adhesive subgroup initiates metastasis and resists many drugs. By closely reflecting patient tumors, these models help identify new targets and improve the development of effective treatments ...

Wage Penalties for Career Interruptions: An Empirical Analysis for West Germany [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the wage effects of different types of career interruptions. We consider the timing and duration of non-employment spells by exploiting an administrative data set of German social security accounts (IAB employment sample) supplemented

Plant‐Produced Viral Nanoparticles Decorated with Nanobodies Against HER2 Improve Retention and Recruitment of Immune Cells in Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Potato virus X is a filamentous RNA plant virus that can be engineered into a molecular tool for cancer therapy. We produced genetically‐encoded virus‐derived nanoparticles decorated with nanobodies targeting cancer cell receptors, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2).

Opinion: Gavage Administration of MXene as a Route‐Specific Alternative to Intravenous Injection into the Bloodstream of Laboratory Animals for Reducing Systemic Nanotoxicity Risks in Immunosuppression and Post‐Transplantation Models with Bile Acid Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent studies reported immunosuppressive properties of specific MXene nanomaterials. Their intravenous injection into the bloodstream of laboratory animals has been a common delivery method to suppress systemic inflammation and prevent transplant rejection.
