Point‐of‐care‐ultrasound revealed an evolving acute noncompressible deep vein thrombosis (asterisks) in the left lower extremity veins (right panel) that was not evident on duplex ultrasound 14 min prior (left panel; asterisks demonstrate compressed veins). This study found that only two‐thirds of patients were managed in accordance with national guidance for C‐spine trauma, with younger patients more likely to have X‐rays rather than CT. Inappropriate imaging carries radiation dose implications and delays in care with subsequent risks, particularly where immobilisation is utilised.
