Trust‐region filter algorithms utilizing Hessian information for gray‐box optimization
Abstract Optimizing industrial processes often involves gray‐box models that couple algebraic glass‐box equations with black‐box components lacking analytic derivatives. Such systems challenge derivative‐based solvers. The classical trust‐region filter (TRF) algorithm provides a robust framework but requires extensive parameter tuning and numerous ...

Asteroids dimensions and the Truncated Pareto distribution
In this chapter first the statistics of the standard and truncated Pareto distributions are derived and used to fit empirical values of asteroids diameters from different families, namely, Koronis, Eos and Themis, and from the Astorb database.

Blockbusters, Bombs and Sleepers: The income distribution of movies
The distribution of gross earnings of movies released each year show a distribution having a power-law tail with Pareto exponent $\alpha \simeq 2$. While this offers interesting parallels with income distributions of individuals, it is also clear that it

Graph‐based imitation and reinforcement learning for efficient Benders decomposition
Abstract This work introduces an end‐to‐end graph‐based agent for accelerating the computational efficiency of Benders Decomposition. The agent's policy is parameterized by a graph neural network, which takes as input a bipartite graph representation of the master problem and proposes a candidate solution.

The Gumbel- Pareto Distribution: Theory and Applications
In this paper, for the first time we introduce a new four-parameter model called the Gumbel- Pareto distribution by using the T-X method. We obtain some of its mathematical properties. Some structural properties of the new distribution are studied.

On Shifted Weibull-Pareto Distribution
The Lomax distribution, known as Pareto (type II) distribution, is a heavy tail probability distribution used extensively in business, economics and in actuarial modeling. The Weibull-Pareto distribution defined by Alzaatreh et al. (2013a) has shown high

Combining machine learning and probabilistic statistical learning is a powerful way to discover and design new materials. A variety of machine learning approaches can be used to identify promising candidates for target applications, and causal inference can help identify potential ways to make them a reality.
