An algorithm for seizure detection in rodents
Abstract Objective Epilepsy animal research often relies on long‐term intracranial electroencephalographic (iEEG) recordings. Here, we describe an artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm for automatic detection of seizures. Methods The algorithm was trained on iEEG recordings of three mouse models of chronic epilepsy: (1) the pilocarpine model of ...

Number representation in the parietal lobes
This thesis considers the importance of the inferior parietal lobe for calculation and Arabic number comparison. The first experiment demonstrates that repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) can be used on normal subjects to replicate findings from studies of patients whose ability to calculate after brain injury was impaired.

Absence seizures: Update on signaling mechanisms and networks
Abstract Absence seizures (AS) are a hallmark of genetic generalized epilepsies (GGE), characterized by brief episodes of impaired consciousness accompanied by electroencephalographic spike‐and‐wave discharges (SWDs). Traditionally attributed to cortico‐thalamo‐cortical (CTC) dysrhythmia, emerging evidence suggests a more intricate pathophysiological ...

Optimizing electrode configurations for EEG mild cognitive impairment detection
The Optimal electrode configuration of Electroencephalograms (EEG) systems for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) detection and monitoring in non-clinical settings, i.e. number of electrodes and the positions of the electrodes, remains to be explored.

Abstract Objective Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the anterior thalamic nucleus (ATN) and hippocampus is an emerging therapy for drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) when resective surgery is not feasible. We aimed to evaluate the long‐term cognitive outcomes of these two DBS targets, hypothesizing that both interventions preserve cognitive function ...
