Abstract Objective To evaluate the occurrence, clinical correlates, and screening accuracy of depressive symptoms (DS) among adults with epilepsy in Georgia, a country with limited mental health resources. Methods We conducted a cross‐sectional study in adults with epilepsy attending a tertiary care center. We assessed DS using two validated tools: the

Utility of repeat stereotactic EEG in pediatric patients with tuberous sclerosis
Abstract Objective Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare genetic disorder associated with early‐onset drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) secondary to intracranial tubers. Many patients undergo stereo‐EEG (sEEG) for seizure onset localization, sometimes requiring multiple sEEGs and subsequent epilepsy surgeries. Our objective was to evaluate the effects

Abstract Objective Focal cortical dysplasia type 1 (FCD1) is a rare and heterogeneous cause of drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE) in children. Its clinical characteristics remain poorly understood, and surgical outcomes may be less favorable than in FCD2. We conducted a population‐based study to characterize the clinical presentation and long‐term seizure ...

Abstract Objective This study aims to analyze differences in pre‐implantation invasive electroencephalographic (IEEG) data between vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) responders (>50% seizure reduction) and VNS nonresponders (<50% seizure reduction). Methods We retrospectively identified 19 patients with drug‐resistant focal epilepsy who underwent IEEG ...

Demonstration of impaired facial emotion perception in temporal lobe epilepsy by theta responses in EEG [PDF]
Objective: Temporale lobe and occipito-temporal cortical areas play an important role in facial emotion perception (FEP). FEP might be represented by event-related brain oscillations.

ABSTRACT Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) are highly prevalent in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the underlying mechanisms are unclear. This study aims to elucidate the neuropathological mechanisms underlying BPSD by investigating gray matter volume (GMV) and brain connectivity in AD patients with and without BPSD.
