Global agricultural value chains and food prices

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract We study the relationship between the extent of participation in global agricultural value chains (GAVCs) and food prices at the country level. Using longitudinal data on a sample of 138 countries for the period 2000–2015 and a shift‐share instrumental variable design, we study how the extent of a country's participation in GAVCs in a given ...

Double-Layer Low-Density Parity-Check Codes over Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Channels

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2012
We introduce a double-layer code based on the combination of a low-density parity-check (LDPC) code with the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the decoding can be done in both inner-iteration and outer-iteration manners.

Polarization and state legislative elections

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Political Science, EarlyView.
Abstract US state legislatures are critical policymaking institutions that are increasingly polarized, yet data and measurement limitations have prevented researchers from understanding how state legislative elections contribute to this polarization. To address this gap, we construct new measures of candidate ideology based on campaign contributions ...

Mitigating Cultural Constraints on Environmental Performance With Women on Boards During Crises

open access: yesBusiness Ethics, the Environment &Responsibility, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Existing management literature has acknowledged the intricate interplay between board gender diversity (BGD), national culture, and environmental performance (EP). However, the COVID‐19 pandemic offers an unprecedented context to reexamine these relationships.

Quasi-cyclic extension based on PEG algorithm for construction of LDPC codes

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2008
Several important relations between the cycle structure on the Tanner graph and the parity-check matrix H of LDPC codes were proved.A new algorithm for constructing LDPC codes was proposed that introduced quasi-cyclic ex-tension method to PEG algorithm ...

Suboptimal screening and correction of maternal iron deficiency anaemia in the general population and in inherited bleeding disorders: A population‐based cohort study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes globally. Women with inherited bleeding disorders are at increased risk, with scarce data on rates of IDA screening and correction during pregnancy. The impact of correction on outcomes is unclear.

Can Central Bank Digital Currencies Promote the Internationalization of Currencies?

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using multinational data (2000–2023), this study employed system GMM and fixed‐effects models to examine CBDC's impact on currency internationalization through a framework measuring ‘market acceptance’ and ‘policy drive.’ The results indicated that CBDC advancement significantly promotes currency internationalization.

Genetic Parameter Estimation for Plasma Biomarkers Associated With Energy Reserves During Critical Physiological Stages in Sheep

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ability of ruminants to mobilise and restore body reserves (BR) over time, referred to as BR dynamics, is currently considered an interesting biological component to be included in breeding programs targeting enhanced BR resilience. However, genetic studies of proxies for BR levels and BRD remain scarce, particularly in small ruminants ...

Regular and Irregular Multiple Serially- Concatenated Multiple-Parity-Check Codes for Wireless Applications

open access: yesJournal of Communications Software and Systems, 2009
Multiple Serially-Concatenated Multiple-Parity-Check (M-SC-MPC) codes are a class of structured Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes, characterized by very simple encoding, that we have recently introduced.
