PARITY DOUBLING IN PARTICLE PHYSICS [PDF]

open access: greenInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2007
Parity doubling in excited hadrons is reviewed. Parity degeneracy in hadrons was first experimentally observed 40 years ago. Recently new experimental data on light mesons caused much excitement and renewed interest to the phenomenon, which still remains to be enigmatic.

The Physics of Spontaneous Parity-Time Symmetry Breaking in the Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability [PDF]

open access: greenNew Journal of Physics, 2020
We show that the dynamical system of an inviscid fluid with velocity shear admits parity-time (PT) symmetry, which provides a physical explanation of the well-known observation that the spectrum of the perturbation eigenmodes of the system is symmetric ...

Parity and chivalry in nuclear physics [PDF]

open access: bronzeNature, 1997
Forty years ago, the world of physics was stunned by the discovery that nuclear beta-decay does not respect symmetry between left and right. But the credit for this conclusion has not been properly attributed.

Parity violation in the scalar trispectrum: no-go theorems and yes-go examples [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We derive a set of no-go theorems and yes-go examples for the parity-odd primordial trispectrum of curvature perturbations. We work at tree-level in the decoupling limit of the Effective Field Theory of Inflation and assume scale invariance and a Bunch ...

Atomic parity violation in cesium and implications for new physics [PDF]

open access: greenPhysics Letters B, 1997
Recent high-precision measurements of atomic parity-nonconserving transitions between the 6S and 7S states of cesium allow for a determination of the weak nuclear charge with a precision of 1.3%, providing an improved test of the standard model at low energy.

Parity Doublets in Quark Physics [PDF]

open access: greenPhysical Review Letters, 1997
There are numerous examples of very nearly degenerate states of opposite parity in molecular physics. The ammonia maser is based on one such double. Theory shows that these parity doubles can occur if the nuclear shape in the molecule is reflection-asymmetric because the time scales of the shape and the electronic cloud are well-separated.
