Deep Convolutional Neural Networks and Learning ECG Features for Screening Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation Patients

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, 2018
In this paper, a novel computationally intelligent-based electrocardiogram (ECG) signal classification methodology using a deep learning (DL) machine is developed.

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in racehorses

Equine Veterinary Journal, 1986
Summary The paper describes five cases of atrial fibrillation detected after racing. In four of them, the arrhythmia disappeared spontaneously within 24 h and they were regarded as paroxysmal in type. In the fifth case, which won its race, the arrhythmia persisted for at least 45 h after racing. It was therefore regarded as an example

Management of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

QJM, 1993
Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is a common, poorly understood and difficult-to-treat arrhythmia. Although it tends to be treated in a similar fashion to chronic atrial fibrillation, its pathophysiology is different, and drugs commonly used for chronic atrial fibrillation may have only limited value in treating paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.

Pulsed Field Ablation to Treat Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation: Safety and Effectiveness in the AdmIRE Pivotal Trial

Circulation
BACKGROUND: Evidence from clinical trials of early pulsed field ablation (PFA) systems in treating atrial fibrillation has demonstrated their promising potential to reduce complications associated with conventional thermal modalities while maintaining ...

Canine model of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and paroxysmal atrial tachycardia

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2005
Both autonomic nerve activity and electrical remodeling are important in atrial arrhythmogenesis. Therefore, dogs with sympathetic hyperinnervation, myocardial infarction (MI), and complete atrioventricular block (CAVB) may have a high incidence of atrial arrhythmias.

Circadian Variation of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Circulation, 1997
Background Circadian variation in the incidence of acute cardiovascular events is well known but has not been extensively investigated in paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, although the significance of this arrhythmia is growing in our society with the increasing number of aged people. Methods and

Catheter Ablation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

New England Journal of Medicine, 2012
Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, with a lifetime risk exceeding 20% by 80 years of age.1 Despite associations of atrial fibrillation with heart failure, stroke, and increased mortality, antiarrhythmic drug therapy with the goal of maintaining sinus rhythm has not improved outcomes in randomized trials.2,3 Recently, attention ...

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation after insect sting

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1996
We report an unusual cardiac reaction to insect sting, consisting in an episode of paroxysmal atral fibrillation in an otherwise healthy man. In order to validate the hypothesis that the cardiac complication was due to the chemical substance injected by the insect, we isolated the the venom and injected it subcutaneously to the subject under ...

Hemodynamics of Idiopathic Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 1995
The hemodynamics of induced atrial fibrillation (AF) was investigated in 15 patients (ages 58 ± 11 years) with paroxysmal AF presenting without organic heart disease or hypertension. A hemodynamic study was performed both during sinus rhythm and after the induction of AF.

Association between prolonged P wave duration and left atrial scarring in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation

Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, 2019
We evaluated the association of P wave duration (PWD) with left atrial scar (LAS) in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF).
