Unveiling Immune System Perturbations in Early Development Through Zebrafish Models of NADHX Repair Deficiency

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The vital cofactors NADH and NADPH are prone to hydration, forming hydroxylated redox‐inactive derivatives (NADHX and NADPHX) in cells. These damaged metabolites are repaired by two highly conserved enzymes, an NAD(P)HX dehydratase (NAXD) and an NAD(P)HX epimerase (NAXE).

Local Anesthetics in Cancer: Mechanisms and Translational Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Local anesthetics demonstrate multifaceted antitumor effects that collectively contribute to cancer suppression. Beyond canonical sodium channel blockade, these agents exert the following pharmacological actions: inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, suppression of migration and invasion, induction of proapoptotic pathways, attenuation of ...

Aging‐Derived Alterations in Genomic, Immune, and Metabolic Networks: Implications for Cancer Development and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Ageing acts as a double‐edged sword in cancer. In the elderly, open chromatin, immunosenescence, and chronic inflammation drive SASP (IL‐6, MMPs), MDSC accumulation and T‐cell suppression, fostering tumor‐promoting microenvironments and limited therapeutic benefit.

Genetic Testing Among Black and White Patients With Advanced Prostate Cancer: A Retrospective Analysis of Testing Utilization and Referral Patterns

open access: yesThe Prostate, Volume 86, Issue 4, Page 440-450, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Genetic testing is recommended but underutilized in advanced prostate cancer. Given known disparities affecting Black patients, we assessed genetic testing completion rates by race. Methods Henry Ford Health's electronic medical record was queried for new prostate cancer diagnoses (1/1/2017–6/30/2022).
