Abstract Background Air‐vented ionization chambers exposed to clinical radiation beams may suffer from recombination during the drift of the charge carriers towards the electrodes. Thus, dosimetry protocols recommend the use of a correction factor, usually denominated saturation factor (ksat$k_{\rm sat}$), to correct the ionization chamber readout for ...

Abstract Background In proton radiotherapy, the steep dose deposition profile near the end of the proton's track, the Bragg peak, ensures a more conformed deposition of dose to the tumor region when compared with conventional radiotherapy while reducing the probability of normal tissue complications.

Hurricanes create major disturbances to stream ecosystems by producing large floods and removing riparian vegetation. Understanding their impacts is a priority, as hurricane intensity will increase with global climate change. Hurricane disturbance shifts mayfly assemblages from dominance by Leptophlebiidae before to Baetidae after.

Flavor in SU(5)$SU(5)$ Finite Grand Unified Models
Abstract Four SU(5)N=1$SU(5) \nobreakspace N=1$ supersymmetric models which exhibit S3$S_3$ and/or ZN$Z_N$ symmetries are studied, that are finite to two or all loops, and their corresponding mass matrices. The first is an all‐loop finite model based on an S3×Z3×Z2$S_3\times Z_3\times Z_2$ flavor symmetry, which leads to phenomenologically nonviable ...

Una interesante aproximación histórica al estudio del péndulo compuesto
This paper presents a modern adaptation of Mach 's version of the solution given by Huygens to the compound pendulum problem, a ques tion of historical and didactical interest. An intuitivc solution to the problem of finding the period of osciJation of a

Despite the critical role of biological soil crusts (biocrusts) in dryland C and N cycles, little is known about how biocrust‐derived C and N move into the soil. This study reveals how biocrusts facilitate the downward movement of C and N and drive the formation of mineral‐associated organic matter in subcrust soils.

Detectores de partículas sobre variedades no Minkowskianas
The concepts of particle and vacuum are discussed using differents detector's models and are compared with those that arise from the second quantization method on a non-Minkowskian manifold.
