In vitro propagation of guayule (Parthenium argentatum gray)
Plant Science Letters, 1983Abstract A method is described for the rapid propagation of guayule plants in vitro. Shoot multiplication from excised buds wwas timulated by the presence of benzyladenine (BA) and concentrations of 1.0 mg l−1 encouraged shoot proliferation without greatly decreasing shoot length.

Studies on the translocation system of guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray)
Protoplasma, 1984Observations at ultrastructural level have been added to earlier descriptions of the vascular tissue inParthenium argentatum (guayule). Large transfer cells with pronounced cell wall projections were found in the phloem of the minor veins in the leaves. These cells have every appearance of being modified for the purpose of collecting photosynthates. In

A simplified protocol for micropropagation of guayule (Parthenium argentatum gray)
In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Plant, 2000A simple, efficient protocol for in vitro micropropagation of guayule is reported. Shoot cultures were maintained on MS (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg l−1 (4.4 μM) 6-benzylaminopurine and 0.025 mg l−1 (0.3 μM) α-naphthaleneacetic acid.

An in vitro study of organogenesis in guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray)
Plant Science, 1990Abstract The in vitro propagation of Guayule was achieved using shoot explants excised from aseptically germinated seedlings. Enganced adventitious shoot formation was obtained on Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) (half strength salts) supplemented with 0.5 mg 1 −1 6-benzylaminopurine (BA).

Chemical Composition of Guayule (Parthenium argentatum Gray) Wax
Journal of Wood Chemistry and Technology, 1994Abstract Commercialization of guayule holds promise not only as an additional source of natural rubber but also for the utilization of its byproducts viz. wax, resin and bagasse. Hence interest in guayule has been revived once again. The present paper discusses the isolation, characterization and possible applications of one of the byproducts - guayule

Triterpenes in Parthenium argentatum, structures of argtntatins C and D
Phytochemistry, 1990Abstract Chemical examination of the roots of Parthenium argentatum afforded the new triterpene argentatin D together with the known triterpenes incalinin, argentatin A, argentatin B and isoargentatin B, while the aerial parts of the plant afforded argentatin C.

A critical evaluation of peroxidase profiles inParthenium argentatum
Biochemical Genetics, 1991Specific localization of peroxidases after electrophoresis on nondenaturing polyacrylamide gels is discussed. The use of a multifunctional analysis for the separation of isoperoxidases from polyphenoloxidases is suggested.

THE ACCELERATED investigations of Guayule (Par-thenium argentatum) in an attempt to mold it into a stable crop plant have quickly revealed a number of complicated problems for the plant breeder. Some of these would be encountered in working similarly with almost any wild plant species, while others are seemingly peculiar to Guayule.
