Genetic and Phenotypic Features of the Five Known Polyaminopathies: A Critical Narrative Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Polyaminopathies are a recently described family of rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorders. Polyaminopathies disrupt the biosynthesis of the primary polyamines: putrescine, spermidine, and spermine. Snyder–Robinson syndrome results from hemizygous loss‐of‐function variants in the spermine synthase (SMS) gene, resulting in decreased or ...

Partial Order on the set of Boolean Regulatory Functions

open access: yes, 2019
Logical models have been successfully used to describe regulatory and signaling networks without requiring quantitative data. However, existing data is insufficient to adequately define a unique model, rendering the parametrization of a given model a difficult task.

Trauma‐Informed Practice in Welfare‐to‐Work and Employment Services: A Scoping Review

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is increasing recognition within welfare services, including employment services, that many participants may have histories of trauma. Research suggests that experiences of trauma not only impact individuals' psychosocial health but also vocational elements such as job performance, employability, career progression, and financial ...

Understanding Youth Assaults of Police Officers in Australia: A Power Threat Meaning Framework Analysis

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explores youth violence towards police officers in Australia through the Power Threat Meaning Framework (PTMF) to better understand the underlying factors contributing to such violence; focusing on power dynamics, childhood adversity, and trauma.

Supported Decision‐Making Rights in Behaviour Support Policies

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disability policy emphasises that people with disability have the right to exercise their will and preferences in their lives, and decision‐making support must be provided to realise this right if they request. One context in which people's will and preferences are often restricted is behaviour support.

Translating Biomedical Research to Medical Devices: A Practical Guide and the Arteriovenous Graft Case Study

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Despite significant advances, most academic research fails to result in medical products that benefit patients. This guide shares five key steps to help researchers close that gap: set clear goals, test thoroughly, protect ideas, build diverse teams, and partner with industry.

On circuit complexity of partial Boolean functions

open access: yesMathematical Problems of Cybernetics
We estimate the circuit complexity of partial Boolean functions of a given weight in an arbitrary complete finite basis B, where each basis function φi is assigned a positive weight ρi, and the complexity of a circuit is the sum of the weights of all its gates.

Engineering Binary Metal Oxide Nano‐Oscillators for Deterministic and Probabilistic Computing: From Material Physics to Emerging Paradigms

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a versatile hardware platform using nano‐oscillators based on binary oxides for deterministic and probabilistic computing. By tailoring material physics, NbOx enables energy‐efficient synchronization for pattern recognition, while enhanced stochasticity in engineered SiOx provides robust entropy for p‐bits to solve complex ...

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Mielomeningocele and nutrition: a proposal of care protocol

open access: yesO Mundo da Saúde, 2011
Mielomeningocele is the most serious and more common form of bifid thorn, corresponding to nearly 75% of all cases. It is a disorder characterized by the partial closing of the embryonic neural tube, and it may happen in any region of the marrow. This ...
