Partial cricotracheal resection for pediatric subglottic stenosis: a single institution's experience in 60 cases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
.: In our study, 60 infants and children, each with a severe subglottic stenosis (SGS), underwent partial cricotracheal resection (PCTR) with primary thyrotracheal anastomosis. According to the Myer-Cotton classification, two were grade II, 41 were grade

Cricotracheal resection and thyrotracheal anastomosis for thyroid carcinoma invading airway

open access: yes, 2018
Papillary carcinoma thyroid (PCT) invading airway is rare, and the treatment for the same is challenging for the surgeon. We reported a 56-year-old female who presented with a history of blood-tinged sputum and dyspnea.

Pattern avoidance in partial permutations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Motivated by the concept of partial words, we introduce an analogous concept of partial permutations. A partial permutation of length n with k holes is a sequence of symbols $\pi = \pi_1\pi_2 ...

Prevalence, Associations, and Outcomes of Suprastomal Collapse After Pediatric Tracheostomy

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 4, August 2025.
Suprastomal collapse occurred in 57% of pediatric tracheostomy patients and was associated with younger age at tracheostomy, airway edema, subglottic stenosis, and tracheobronchomalacia. Collapse increased the likelihood of requiring airway reconstruction. Granulation tissue removal did not increase collapse risk and may delay its onset.

Otolaryngologists Demonstrate Low Agreement on Pediatric Airway Inflammation Assessment

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 135, Issue 5, Page 1830-1835, May 2025.
Objectives Microlaryngoscopy and bronchoscopy (MLB) are essential tools for evaluating airway inflammation, but the reliability of endoscopic assessments for this purpose remains unclear. The aim of this study was to assess surgeons' interrater reliability during endoscopic assessment of airway inflammation.

Airway stenosis: classification, pathogenesis, and clinical management

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 2, February 2025.
The development of AS can be affected by many factors, and fibrosis is the core process. Inflammation, Epithelial–mesenchymal transition and metabolic reprogramming can accelerate the development of AS by promoting the process of fibrosis. And the rest also show the correlation with AS.

Preoperative systemic inflammation predicts postoperative infectious complications in patients undergoing curative resection for colorectal cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The presence of systemic inflammation before surgery, as evidenced by the glasgow prognostic score (mGPS), predicts poor long-term survival in colorectal cancer. The aim was to examine the relationship between the preoperative mGPS and the development of

The osteocutaneous radial forearm free flap: A pictorial essay

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 46, Issue 6, Page 1533-1541, June 2024.
Abstract The osteocutaneous radial forearm free flap (OCRFFF) is a versatile flap with the ability to reconstruct complex defects. We detail the techniques necessary to harvest an OCRFFF, including an outline on making 90‐degree osteotomies to maximize bone harvest.
