Partial Discharge Location within a Transformer Winding using Principal Component Analysis
Partial discharge (PD) may occur in a transformer winding due to ageing processes, operational over stressing or defects introduced during manufacture. The presence of PD does not necessarily indicate imminent failure of the transformer but it will lead ...

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Digital Measurement of Partial Discharge
Various new measurement techniques have been developed for a high voltage phenomenon referred to as partial discharge. Partial discharge is a localized breakdown of the high voltage insulation system which is observed as low level, random emissions. Both electrical and acoustic emissions have been measured in underground power cables, solid cast power ...

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Partial discharge behaviour analysis of silicon nitride ceramics
Silicon nitride ceramic, one of the most promising power electronics carrier board materials, is examined non-destructively by means of partial discharge measurement.

Condition Evaluation of Large Generator Stator Insulation Based on Partial Discharge Measurement
The large generator faults are mostly from the stator insulation, which is aged by exposure to a combination of thermal, electrical, mechanical, and harsh environment stresses. Condition evaluation of stator insulation is an important measure of ensuring

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
