Energy Prediction Method for Metro HVAC Systems based on the ARMA Model

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2019
This paper proposes an energy consumption-prediction method for metro heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems based on an auto-regressive moving average (ARMA) model using a time-series data analysis.

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Hamiltonians representing equations of motion with damping due to friction

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
Suppose that $H(q,p)$ is a Hamiltonian on a manifold M, and $\tilde L(q,\dot q)$, the Rayleigh dissipation function, satisfies the same hypotheses as a Lagrangian on the manifold M. We provide a Hamiltonian framework that gives the equation $$ \

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

In-situ TEM observation of stacking-fault intersection–controlled partial dislocation dynamics in high-Mn austenitic steel

open access: yesApplied Microscopy
The deformation behavior of a high-Mn austenitic steel was investigated using in-situ straining transmission electron microscopy (TEM), with emphasis on the dynamic interaction between stacking faults and partial dislocations during plastic deformation ...

New Local Region Based Model for the Segmentation of Medical Images

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Segmentation of images having inhomogeneous intensities is always challenging. In this paper, we propose a model based on new local data statistics using local means and variances for detection of region of interest in medical images suffered from ...

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Solliton-like order parameter distributions in the critical region

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2006
Some exact one-component order parameter distributions for the Michelson thermodynamic potential are obtained. The phase transition of second kind in Ginzburg-Landau type model is investigated. The exact partial distribution of the order parameter in the

Application of the PM6 semi-empirical method to modeling proteins enhances docking accuracy of AutoDock

open access: yesJournal of Cheminformatics, 2009
Background Molecular docking methods are commonly used for predicting binding modes and energies of ligands to proteins. For accurate complex geometry and binding energy estimation, an appropriate method for calculating partial charges is essential ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.
