The Benign Partial Nonrolandic Epilepsies
Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology, 1991Although rolandic epilepsy is the only epileptic syndrome that, at present, fully meets all the criteria of benignity and is widely recognized as such, there are also other forms of partial epilepsy that are benign. These are also genetically determined and age-dependent, occurring in neurologically intact children older than 18 months of age.

Diagnosis of partial epilepsy in a goat
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1987A seizure disorder of 4.5 years' duration in a 6-year-old female Nubian goat was diagnosed as partial epilepsy on the basis of history, focal electroencephalogram (EEG) abnormalities, convulsive response to ketamine, and necropsy findings. The goat appeared to maintain consciousness during her seizures.

Epilepsies With Partial Seizures in Childhood
Journal of Child Neurology, 1997Individual seizures are described as either partial (localization related) or generalized depending on whether a localized area of cerebral cortex is symptomatically involved sufficient to impart to the seizure a focal signature or whether sufficient cortex is involved sufficiently rapidly to appear as if generalized from the outset.

Multimodality imaging in partial epilepsies
Current Opinion in Neurology, 2004The rapid expansion of novel applications and the development of new techniques in structural and functional imaging modalities present a troubling challenge to keep up with and harness potential valuable information created in this critical field of epilepsy localization and non-invasive in-vivo research.Recent advances in epilepsy imaging have ...

Genetics of the Partial Epilepsies: A Review
Epilepsia, 1989Summary: The research literature is consistent in reporting somewhat less familial aggregation in partial than in generalized epilepsy. However, relatives of patients with partial seizures do appear to have higher seizure risks than relatives of controls, suggesting that genetic factors are important in at least some partial epilepsies.

Basic mechanisms of partial epilepsies
Current Opinion in Neurology, 2004Partial epilepsies are characterized by cell loss with consequences for neuronal organization, excitability, mnestic and cognitive functions and present with pharmaco-resistance and difficulties in clinical management. While mesial temporal lobe epilepsies present frequently with cell loss and neuronal reorganization, neocortical epilepsies frequently ...

[The insula in partial epilepsy].
Revue neurologique, 2005The role of the insular lobe in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) has often been suggested but never directly demonstrated. In this article, we review data from recent literature and from our stereo-electroencephalographic (SEEG) recordings in patients referred for temporal lobe epilepsy surgery (TLE).

[Idiopathic partial epilepsies in children (benign or primary partial epilepsies)].
Revue neurologique, 1987The concept of idiopathic partial epilepsies in childhood is not yet accepted by all neurologists. We review the diagnostic criteria of these syndromes and stress both wake and sleep EEG characteristics. Different clinical entities have been individualized among other forms: benign partial epilepsy with centro-temporal spikes, benign epilepsy with ...
