Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Predictive model selection in partial least squares path modeling (PLS-PM)

open access: yes, 2015
Predictive model selection metrics are used to select models with the highest out-of-sample predictive power among a set of models. R2 and related metrics, which are heavily used in partial least squares path modeling, are often mistaken as predictive

Inferential control with the aid of modified QPLS-based soft sensor for an industrial FCCU fractionator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A modified quadratic partial least squares (MQPLS) algorithm based on non-linear constrained programming is proposed, in which a sequential unconstrained minimisation technique is employed to calculate the outer input weights and the parameters of inner ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

The Use of Partial Least Squares Method To Remove Multicollinearity [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العراقية للعلوم الاحصائية, 2010
In this research the estimation of the regression parameters was clarified using least squares and partial least squares compared with the normal method in terms of its ability to be free from the problem of Multicollinearity between the predictive ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

An integrated approach to the simultaneous selection of variables, mathematical pre-processing and calibration samples in partial least-squares multivariate calibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new optimization strategy for multivariate partial-least-squares (PLS) regression analysis is described. It was achieved by integrating three efficient strategies to improve PLS calibration models: (1) variable selection based on ant colony ...

A Partial Least Squares based algorithm for parsimonious variable selection

open access: yesAlgorithms for Molecular Biology, 2011
Background In genomics, a commonly encountered problem is to extract a subset of variables out of a large set of explanatory variables associated with one or several quantitative or qualitative response variables.

Using String Kernels to Identify Famous Performers from their Playing Style

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we show a novel application of string kernels: that is to the problem of recognising famous pianists from their style of playing. The characteristics of performers playing the same piece are obtained from changes in beat-level tempo and ...
