Estimation of Multivariate Frailty Models Using Penalized Partial Likelihood
Biometrics, 2000Summary.There exists a growing literature on the estimation of gamma distributed multiplicative shared frailty models. There is, however, often a need to model more complicated frailty structures, but attempts to extend gamma frailties run into complications.

Imprinting and Maternal Effect Detection Using Partial Likelihood Based on Discordant Sibpair Data
Statistica sinica, 2019Numerous statistical methods have been developed to explore genomic imprinting and maternal effects, which are causes of parent-of-origin patterns in complex human diseases.

Maximum likelihood partially adaptive estimation†
International Journal of Systems Science, 1972This paper extends previous work involving adaptive estimation to the case where only some components of the unknown parameters are adapted to. The method of invariant embedding is used to obtain sequential adaptive algorithms for maximum likelihood estimation.

Partial likelihood for signal processing
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2003We present partial likelihood (PL) as an effective means for developing nonlinear techniques for signal processing. Posing signal processing problems in a likelihood setting provides a number of advantages, such as allowing the use of powerful tools in statistics and easy incorporation of model order/complexity selection into the problem by use of ...

A Partial Likelihood Estimator of Vaccine Efficacy
Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics, 2000A partial likelihood method is proposed for estimating vaccine efficacy for a general epidemic model. In contrast to the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) which requires complete observation of the epidemic, the suggested method only requires information on the sequence in which individuals are infected and not the exact infection times.

Accurate Estimation of Partial Discharge Location using Maximum Likelihood
IEEE Sensors Letters, 2018In this article, a novel algorithm for high-accuracy partial discharge (PD) localization in an oil insulation system is proposed. This study aims to identify the statistics of the dynamics and measurement noise sequences in a PD localization system and ...

A geometric optimally of Cox's partial likelihood
Canadian Journal of Statistics, 1999AbstractThe paper proves geometric optimality of Cox's partial likelihood score functions via estimating functions. As an illustration, Cox's proportional‐hazards model is considered.Les auteurs démontrent l'optimalité gǵométrique des fonctions scores de vraisemblance partielle de Cox au moyen des fonctions d'estimation.

Partial likelihood for online order selection
Signal Processing, 2005Partial likelihood (PL) is a flexible framework for adaptive nonlinear signal processing allowing the use of a wide class of nonlinear structures--probability models--as filters. PL maximization has been shown to be equivalent to relative entropy minimization for the general case of time-dependent observations and its large sample properties have been ...
