Unitary and causal dynamics based on the chiral Lagrangian

open access: yes, 2010
Pion-nucleon scattering, pion photoproduction, and nucleon Compton scattering are analyzed within a scheme based on the chiral Lagrangian. Partial-wave amplitudes are obtained by an analytic extrapolation of subthreshold reaction amplitudes computed in ...

Workplace design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Purpose: Although both the job and its broader context are likely to drive motivation, little is known about the specific workplace characteristics that are important for motivation.

Partial Discharge Signal Denoising using Adaptive Translation Invariant Wavelet Transform-Online Measurement

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Engineering and Technology, 2014
Partial discharge (PD) measurements have emerged as a dominant investigative tool for condition monitoring of insulation in high voltage equipment. But the major problem behind them the PD signal is severely polluted by several noises like White noise, Random noise, Discrete Spectral Interferences (DSI) and the challenge lies with removing these noise ...

A comparison of the invariance properties of the PVQ-40 and the PVQ-21 to measure human values across German and Polish Samples

open access: yesSurvey Research Methods, 2012
The Schwartz theory of basic human values has promoted a revival of empirical research on values in cross-cultural, social, and personality psychology. A central topic in the application of values is comparing them across cultures.

Impact of Not Addressing Partially Cross-Classified Multilevel Structure in Testing Measurement Invariance: A Monte Carlo Study [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
In educational settings, researchers are likely to encounter multilevel data with cross-classified structure. However, due to the lack of familiarity and limitations of statistical software for cross-classified modeling, most researchers adopt less optimal approaches to analyze cross-classified multilevel data in testing measurement invariance.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Assessing the psychometric and ecometric properties of neighborhood scales using adolescent survey data from urban and rural Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work was supported by NHS Health Scotland and the University of St Andrews. Background:  Despite the well-established need for specific measurement instruments to examine the relationship between neighborhood conditions and adolescent well-being ...

Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Type I Spinal Muscular Atrophy: 24‐Month Follow‐Up From the Italian Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Onasemnogene abeparvovec (OA) is an AAV9‐based gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy type I (SMA I). Real‐world outcomes show increased response variability compared to clinical trials, and follow‐up data beyond 12–18 months are limited.

Revisiting measurement invariance in intelligence testing in aging research: Evidence for almost complete metric invariance across age groups.

open access: yesJournal for Person-Oriented Research, 2018
Background / Objectives: Invariance of intelligence across age is often assumed but infrequently explicitly tested. Horn and McArdle (1992) tested measurement invariance of intelligence, providing adequate model fit but might not consider all relevant ...
