Partial melting mechanisms of embedded nanocrystals
Physical Review B, 2009Understanding the melting mechanisms of nanocrystals embedded in solids is of great current interest since both the synthesis and modification of such systems frequently involve the use of high temperatures. Using molecular-dynamics computer simulations we study the melting mechanisms of Cu, Ag, and Au nanoclusters embedded in metal matrices and Si ...

Partial melting of metagreywackes, Part II. Compositions of minerals and melts
Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 1997A series of experiments on the fluid-absent melting of a quartz-rich aluminous metagreywacke has been carried out. In this paper, we report the chemical composition of the phases present in the experimental charges as determined by electron microprobe.

Lithium behaviour during partial melting
Lithium has been receiving increased attention due to its relevance to the green energy transition and increasing demand. One of the main sources of Li is peraluminous granitoids and pegmatites. Current models for the genesis of such enriched lithologies include the fractional crystallisation of melts derived from sedimentary protoliths (e.g., Linnen ...Elisa Oliveira da Costa +4 more

Pn velocity and partial melting—discussion
Tectonophysics, 1977Abstract The seismologically observed Pn velocity anomalies in the conterminous United States are restricted to the lithosphere, but the observed teleseismic delay-time variations are due principally to the regional variations in the physical state (i.e., thickness of lowvelocity zone and/or percent melt, etc.) of the asthenosphere.

Flow of partially crystallised Silicate melts
2003Viscosity of crystal-bearing silicate melts is studied for isochemical systems in the range of linear and non-linear viscous flow. Effects on viscosity are investigated as a function of total volume fraction (0 - 35 vol%) and mean aspect ratio a:b:c (1:1:1.5 - 2.4:1:3.9) of suspended crystals.
