Pseudoaneurysm after partial nephrectomy managed by selective angiographic embolization – a case report

open access: yesAngiologia e Cirurgia Vascular
INTRODUCTION: Partial nephrectomy is considered the gold standard treatment for many renal tumors when technically feasible. Renal artery pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistulas are rare life-threatening complications that occur more frequently after ...

Retroperitoneal hand-assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy and partial nephrectomy

open access: yesSurgical Techniques Development, 2013
The purpose of the present paper is to describe our technique and experience with retroperitoneal hand-assisted laparoscopic (HAL) nephrectomies as an alternative to the transperitoneal approach.

Multiplex Partial Nephrectomy, Repeat Partial Nephrectomy, and Salvage Partial Nephrectomy Remain the Primary Treatment in Multifocal and Hereditary Kidney Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2017
The standard of care treatment for solitary renal cell carcinoma (RCC) tumors 4 cm or less is partial nephrectomy (PNx). However, multifocal kidney cancer presents unique challenges for treating physicians.

Safety of Daprodustat for the Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease Anemia: Final Analysis of a Multicenter Postmarketing Surveillance Study in Japan

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This final analysis of a multicenter, prospective postmarketing surveillance study evaluated the safety of daprodustat in patients with chronic kidney disease anemia in routine clinical practice in Japan. Methods Patients who initiated daprodustat between September 2020 and July 2022 were registered.

Open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques for partial nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma: a comparison of outcomes based on "trifecta" and "pentafecta" criteria

open access: yesВестник урологии
Introduction. There is a dearth of literature comparing the three modalities of partial nephrectomy – open, laparoscopic, and robotic – based on two contemporary criteria, “trifecta” and “pentafecta”.

Review of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy in modern practice

open access: yesJournal of Kidney Cancer and VHL, 2015
Partial nephrectomy (PN) is currently the standard treatment for T1 renal tumors. Minimally invasive PN offers decreased blood loss, shorter length of stay, rapid convalescence, and improved cosmesis.

Targeting the ATX‐LPA Axis Overcomes TKI Resistance and Immunosuppression in Renal Cell Carcinoma via Dual Inhibition of AKT/mTOR and TBK1/IRF3 Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic resistance limits durable survival in advanced/metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) treated with first‐line tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) plus immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). We sought to define key resistance drivers and actionable targets.

Repeat partial nephrectomy for recurrence of Von Hippel-Lindau-related renal cell carcinoma in an autotransplanted kidney

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2021
Von Hippel-Lindau disease predisposes to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Treatment is frequently challenging due to presence of bilateral tumors and high risk of recurrence. We present the case of a VHL-patient with bilateral recurrence of clear-cell

Pathological Copper Overload Reprograms SOD1 Activation via COMMD1 to Promote Senescence and Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a previously unrecognized copper‐COMMD1‐SOD1 regulatory axis, revealing that pathological copper overload paradoxically suppresses SOD1 activity by promoting COMMD1‐dependent disruption of SOD1 homodimerization. These findings redefine the regulatory role of copper in SOD1 biology and provide novel mechanistic insight into the ...

ANGPTL4 Exacerbates Renal Injury in Diabetic Kidney Disease by Impairing Podocyte Lipophagy via Compromised Lysosomal Degradative Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In diabetic kidney disease, elevated podocyte ANGPTL4 is linked to reduced TFEB nuclear localization and compromised lysosomal degradative function. These changes impair podocyte lipophagy and promote lipid‐droplet accumulation and podocyte injury, which may contribute to renal injury progression.
